DuraPile™ Cloth Media
PILE CLOTH MEDIA
GDisk® filters by Beacon feature DuraPile™ cloth media technology that enables depth filtration, unlike microscreen and woven screen type “filters” that simply strain the influent. As solids are captured by the DuraPile™ cloth media, a mat is formed, removing smaller particles than the nominal filtration rating of the media. The three-dimensional filtering capabilities of GDisk® filter systems offer increased solids loading capabilities versus 2D screen-type units.
GDisk® DuraPile™ cloths are thermally-fused between the support layer and the pile cloth—no chemical adhesive is utilized. Media backing contains strong monofilaments in the longitude direction to strengthen the rotating durability and equalize filtration rating. Cloths are manufactured of environmentally friendly, high temperature rated (100 – 150 ℃) polyester, not acrylic.
Beacon selects from three DuraPile™ cloth nominal filtration ratings (NLB10 – 10 µm, FineLB5 – 5 µm, and UltraLB2 – 2 µm) according to the influent characteristics and effluent requirements. All DuraPile™ cloths provide long service life, typically five years, depending on backwash frequency. GDisk® pile cloths require no high-pressure cleaning—all are suitably cleaned using our standard pumped backwash manifold systems.
DuraPile™ cloths are installed onto manageable, reasonably-sized disk segments (8, 6, or 4 per disk – model dependent). Replacement of cloths is straightforward, using simple tools, and a relatively minimal amount of labor. Contact Beacon to arrange a service visit for cloth exchange assistance.
